For those of you with small gardens, here's one treatment we've recently completed. The yard is about 12'x12', with mixed sun and shade - and while our clients needed a little grass for Emmy, the dog, they were also excited about starting a vegetable garden! So we built two small beds, with a gravel path between and behind (no mowing in tight spots!), while keeping the grass in front.
We also built two trellises, in part to keep Emmy from escaping through the gaps in the hedge - squirrels are an irresistible target! - and in part to maximize growing space by growing upwards wherever possible. The two big pots will make a herb garden!
